A Keynote from Dr.Gangadarappa G.B. Principal

Dear Students,

I am extremely happy to extend my heartfelt welcome to you all to our institution. During your stay in our college, you are free to meet me directly and discuss all your problems regarding teaching, learning, sports, library facilities, etc., with me freely. I hope this discussion will help us in the all round development of our college.

By the blessings of Lord Harihareshwara, by the kind help from the Donor and Ex-Municipal President, Sri. Ramashresti, and by the sincere efforts of the founder-members, the P.U. College and the Degree College have been opened in Harihar town of Davanagere District. And they have been satisfying the educational needs of about 1200 rural and poor students of Harihar taluk every year. They have been imparting quality education. We have been in successful in developing them to a great extent with the co-operation of the public, our Management, UGC, Human Resource Department, and the staff who have been working hard for the success of our students. I am happy to say that all these are the main reasons for the all-round development of our Institution and I thank them wholeheartedly.

I feel very happy and proud to say that, in the examination held in the year 2005-2006, our students have brought a great renown to our college by securing six ranks in Commerce section (out of ten), one rank in Arts section and two ranks in B.C.A., section. They have also bagged two gold medals. In sports section, our students have made a record in the university level ‘Weight Lifting’ and ‘Power Lifting’ competitions, and won ‘Gold’, ‘Silver,’ and ‘Bronze’ Medals. And every year, a few of our college students get selected as the university players and they have brought a great name and fame to our institution. So far, nearly 70 students of our college have represented Kuvempu and Davanagere Universities. In cultural section, our students have won many prizes in College, University, Inter-University, and State Level Cultural Competitions. The stakeholders will always support to our institution.

We have IQAC Cell, Red Cross Unit, Career and Counselling Cell and Placement Cell, Anti-ragging and Sexual Harassment Cell, Alumni Association, Women’s Cell, 02 NSS Units, Admission Committee, Examination Committee, Sports Committee, Library Committee, Cultural Forum, Gandhi Adhyayana Kendra, Human Rights and Legal Awareness Cell, Time Table Committee, Minority Committee, SC/ST Committee, OBC Committee, etc.

We have provided many facilities to our students. We have a Computer Lab, Digital Classrooms, Digital Library, and Canteen. We have instituted ‘Joy of Giving” (Poor Students Fund) to help bright and brilliant students from economically backward background. We are providing special library facilities to the students who have scored highest marks in the examination and we have a good tradition of honouring talented students ever year. We are providing library books to the SC/ST students also. There are special awards like ‘The Best Student of the Year,’ and ‘The Best Service-Minded Student of the Year’ to encourage our students. By using all these good facilities, I hope you will bring a great name and fame to our institution.
